Féile Peile na nGael Iománaíocht Competition:

Our Under-15 hurlers delivered an outstanding performance in early May at the group stages of the John West Féile competition held in St. Catherine’s GAA, Ballynoe. The team topped their group impressively, securing four wins from four. Their strong form carried them into the final, where they faced Ballygiblin in a thrilling contest. After a tightly fought match, our lads edged out a two-point victory to claim the group title and progress to the John West Féile semi-finals. The semi-final took place on May 11th at MTU, where the team met a strong Kinsale side. Our boys opened with a solid first half, but the game shifted after halftime. With just 10 minutes per half, Kinsale managed to strike early in the second half with two goals, making it difficult for our team to recover. Kinsale progressed to the final where they became outright winners of the Div2 county, well done to our lads who showed great determination and skill throughout the competition.

U16 Hurling Div2: Our U16 hurlers have reached the league final of their group stage and will face Killeagh, with the final fixture scheduled for July. The lads have shown great form throughout the campaign and will be eager to repeat their performance of the last time these teams met.

U13 Football League: Our U13 footballers are enjoying a remarkable campaign in the Rebel Óg Coiste Fe13 Group3B Football League, having secured six wins from six matches to top their group. Throughout the league, the team has delivered six outstanding performances, showcasing impressive teamwork, skill, and determination. Each match has seen the boys grow stronger, building momentum and confidence. Having finished at the top of their group, the team now advances to the next stage of the competition. With the form they’ve shown, there’s great excitement and optimism for what lies ahead. Well done to the players and coaches on a fantastic group campaign.

U11 Hurling Tournament: A huge congratulations to our U11s who had a fantastic outing at the Brendan Olden Hurling Tournament in Na Parsiagh in early May. After a great morning’s hurling with 5 matches they won the Plate Final. A memorable and enjoyable day for all involved.

U14 Championship Campaigns: Our U14s have kicked off their championship efforts in both hurling and football. The Div1 hurlers have faced a tough start with two early losses, to Ballycastle Gaels & Erins Own. The P2 footballers have also had a challenging beginning, registering one defeat. However, the Div4 hurling and football teams have had great starts, each securing the win against Kiltha óg in hurling & Erins’s Own in football. These U14 teams are showing steady development and great potential as the championship progresses.

Our juvenile teams U8, U9 & U10’s continues to deliver on all fronts, with strong performances in the Go Games and exciting progress across all the age grades, playing some fine hurling & football matches both home and away. Well done lads.

Our U11’s & U13’s recently travelled by bus to Thurles to support our own Tom Walsh, in the Munster Minor Hurling Final. It was a proud moment for the club to see Tom and Cork crowned Munster champions. The memorable trip was not only a great day out, but Tom’s & Cork’s performance is sure to spark dreams in the next generation of Aghada hurlers! Well done to all the mentors for a great day out for the lads. We now look ahead to the All-Ireland Minor Semi-final next Sunday 15th V Clare in Thurles, throw-in 1pm. Best of luck Tom & the Cork team.

Congratulations also to Dara Kelleher, a 6th class pupil at Scoil íoságain, who proudly represented Cork in the Primary Games at half-time during the recent Cork vs Limerick clash on May 18th. Well done Dara another Aghada young man playing in goals and wearing the Cork jersey.

We wish the best of luck to our members in their Junior & Leaving Certificate Exams and we look forward to the U16 and minor championships starting in July.
