Development History
Originally just 1 pitch (acquired in late 60’s)
2 dressing rooms added soon after
New meeting room plus hall and kitchen added in 1984
New gym/indoor ball alley added (late ’90’s)
2nd field bought and developed (early 90’s)
Due to huge growth in club
Why the need for New Development?
Continued growth of our club in all sections – adult, juvenile
and ladies
To create club facilities which will become a significant attraction
for our members and to the community as a whole
To ensure Club is in a position to meet future demands and challenges.
To provide state of the art facilities where players, can train to reach
their full potential.
It is incumbent on us to strive to always better this club and its members
participation, be it on the playing pitch or off it.
THE FUTURE
Purchase and development of 3rd pitch
Development of all weather 5 a side pitch
Upgrade floodlights on existing 2nd pitch
Development of ladies dressing room
Inclusion of referee room, plus toilets for disabled
Upgrade of ball alley and gym facilities
Development of Walkways
Upgrade parking area & creation of dry training area.
Construction of 160m x 6 lane running track
Finance
The entire project is estimated to cost in the region
of 750,000 euro
225,000 euro of National Lottery funding already secured
Further grant applications will be made to – National Lottery,
Cork County Council, Cork County G.A.A Board, Munster GAA Council
Benefits of our club and new development to the community
Enormous advantages to have children involved in sport
Our extremely vibrant juvenile club, caters for up to 200 children,
fielding 18 teams at various levels
Organized coaching starts for kids aged 6 years
From age 16 on the adult club provides opportunity and encouragement
for teenagers to stay involved in sport
All weather pitch will be available for use by all in
the community, so small groups will be able to get together to organize
for e.g. 5 a side games
New Walkway also open to public. 1 lap of which is approx
1 mile. The walkway is located in a quiet and safe area, away from main
roads and in an extremely scenic setting
