Aghada through to Co U12 B HG final
AGHADA had a deserved win over Ballygiblin in the Co. Under 12 B HC semi-finals at Glanworth. The winners dominated in the half backline and midfield sectors, ensuring plenty of possession to their forwards who took some good Scores.
The East Cork side were very strong down the mid¬dle where Shane Dorney Aaron Stafford, Mark Healy, Andrew Murphy, John Looney, Stephen Murphy, and Jake O’Donoghue were to the fore. The sides were level 0—1 each after four minutes. From here on Aghada began to get on top and a series of well taken points by John Looney, Jake O’Donoghue, Mon Stafford and Stephen Murphy helped them to lead 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time.
Early in the second half impressive John Looney placed Jake O’Donoghue for a well taken goal. They added some points and when Stephen Murphy goaled from a free were 2-9 to 0-2 ahead. Paul
Connol¬ly-Murphy had three points for Ballygiblin while Aghada had a third goal by Aaron Stafford. They now meet ei¬ther Aghabullogue in the final.

After having a narrow escape in the Willie Ryan final Aghada made no mistake this time against Kiltha Óg . don’t let the scoreline fool you Kiltha Óg opened the better and lead form most of the 1st half but a goal from Hanna Looney just before the half time whistle put Aghada four points in front. Aghada had to defend as Kiltha Óg came at them but mighty displays from the goalie Mathew Stafford and centre back Aaron Stafford kept them at bay up front Jake O’Donoghue having moved from full forward to the forty was a major influence on the game hitting three goals one early in the 1st half as Aghada struggled to get into the game. His second coming just after the resumption, when he soloed 30 yards before he rattled the net from 20 yards. Aghada never looked back after this with the two Murphy’s in control in the centre of the park the forwards had more of a supply. Hanna Looney and Jack Farmer were flying while John Looney picked off 2-1. Still the Dungourney/ Castlemartyr side came but with Shane Dorney and Sean O’Leary on top they was no way through. We now face Youghal next Friday night in the final.
