After yesterday we thought we had enough drama
no way we needed more and this u16 football semi final gave it to
us. Leading by the slender margin of a point with ten minutes left
on the clock. Kiltha Struck for a goal to go ahead our lads went
down the field and Finbarr Day finished to the net. Back came Kiltha
and how they tried. Aghada held firm as wave after wave came at
us. Conor Rice was inspirational at full back as indeed was Willy
O’Shea in the Cornor. As time ticked on Cian Fleming added
a minor to give us some breathing space. Kiltha launched one more
attract but hit the upright one felt it was to be Aghada’s
night and it was. Now For Cloyne in the final next Sunday look out
for the venue and time this game will be one not to miss. Monday April 25th u16 peil Aghada 1-6 Bride Rovers 3-12
This was a game of
three haves if there is such a thing. Aghada started like world-beaters
two points in as many minutes from James Daly and John O’Brien
and we were away in a canter. Little did we think that Aghada would
not score again for three quarters of an hour. Then we went on to
score 1-4 and kept the Rovers scoreless until the final whistle.
The scores coming from the boot of Finbarr Day (1-2), Ronan Sheehan
and Rory Walsh 1 point each. We were now well on top and playing
good football. Now we come to the bit in the middle this is were
the Rovers ran through us scoring 3-12. While we did concede the
scores we never gave up with Aidan O’Connell, Willie O’Shea
and Cian Higgins trying hard.

Mon 11th April U16 Football Aghada 1-9 Cloyne 3-4
Aghada put up a great show against old rivals Cloyne but could
not close the gap after a poor start. After giving Cloyne a two-goal
lead we knuckled down to pull it back after some fine play. Rory
Walsh and Cian Fleming were well on top at centre field while Finbarr
Day was outstanding at fullback. Aghada pulled back to two points
before Andrew O’Donoghue make a great save but was adjudged
to have thrown the ball over the end line. Cloyne converted the
penalty. Our lads now dug deep and were rewarded with a penalty
at the other end, which Cian Fleming converted at the second attempt.
