So close and yet so far
After playing against a gale force wind Youghal lead a half time by 0-4 to Aghada’s no score, yet we felt we were good enough and indeed we were and when Russell scored a mighty point straight after half time things looked good but how Youghal defended. Time after time they cleared their lines then with time running out Russell got inside this is it No what a save down the field with the ball and against the run of play Youghal got the goal
Can five lines sum up four years work . No and in truth we deserved better. Have no doubt this is Youghal team is made of good stuff and maybe a county is not out of the Question. Where does this leave our lads? I know. One of the best teams that ever-left Aghada and their time has to come. Of this I have no doubt. Can we forget all the moment’s this team has given from their first game in an u8-hurling tournament down in copper ally their u10 football win their u11 hurling final loss, and their u11 football win. Up in the top grade this year, Nearly there. Thanks lads and lassies Well done all

U12 football team makes history
This is the first time that Aghada have reached a final of a group 1 u12 competition
And what a way to do it. When these two teams clashed in the league there was fire works with our lads just winning after a struggle . It was a different story this time with Rohan Kennedy putting away two goals as did Michael Desmond , Michael Russell , Eoin Healy ,Chris Cashman and Brian McCarthy added points to leave Aghada handy winners . We welcomed Captain Owen Savage back after injury . Now for the big one Youghal in the final this should be a great game of football next Sat in Ballymacoda at 3-30pm . they meet in the league but Youghal had only 13 players . Aghada won by two points .

Our lads won our 1st ever u12 A championship match, which was played in wet and windy Rostellan last Sat.
While we won handy in the end but Midleton put it up to Aghada in the opening half and only for some great defending by the backline (John O’Brien in particular) they would be further ahead at the short whistle .On the turnaround enter super sub Dessie scoring 2-3 when he came off the bench . Brian McCarthy added 1-4 while Rohan Kennedy found the net . Michael Russell and Eoin Healy added a point each to leave Aghada playing Cobh in the semi final next Sunday in Rostellan at 11-30 am

This u12 game was a bad tempered game with scores hard to come by on a wet and slipery surface Cobh came with only 13 players witch put our selectors under pressure
Our lads won thanks to Michael Russells three points , Rohan Kennedys two and Michael Desmonds one for our lads to win by two points recording their second win in a row .

Normal service resumes
After two bad results our lads bounced back to record one of the biggest wins of the year.
Whether it was the return of Eoin Savage or what but our lads turned on the style.
Yet we did not have it our own way in the first half as Erin’s Own finished stronger scoring 1-4 with out reply as the half closed to lead by 2-6 to 2-3 at half time. Michael Russell opened the scoring with a Beckham like goal from a thirty yard free, a minute later he had a second. The Island lads then got 1-1 before Russell, Rohan Kennedy and Josh O’Shea added a point each. Then came the afore mentioned Erin’s Own Rally.
Little did we think that Erin’s Own would only score once in the second half as Aghada over ran them. Goals from Russell and Dave Rice (2) from the throw in seem to give Aghada great confidence. Our lads pilled on the scores to win on the score line 10-10 to 2-7

Glanmire pip ours lads in exciting game
In the first league match of the year we had to give way to a gallant Glanmire side
This was a story of four penalties two for Glanmire converted two for Aghada missed.
Aghada started in whirlwind fashion when Eoin Healy goaled following by a Michael Russell point inside a minute. Glanmire hit back with one of the afore mentioned penalties followed by a point to level the scores . Now Aghada turned on the style with Brian McCarthy causing Glanmire all sorts of bother in the middle of the park Russell and Healy gave a master class on point taking and when Rohan Kennedy rattled the net we looked on our way. Healy was brought down in the square up stepped Russell Wide. Now the Glanmire boys came back three points in a row before Josh O’Shea stopped the rot with a point to leave the score at halt time 2-8 to 1-7
On the resumption Glanmire came at Aghada in droves but for some great defending by Andrew O’Donoghue (in goals) Padraig Mulry and G Murphy things would be worse. Our small half-forward line found it hard going as Glanmire turned the screw. Finally it paid off for Glanmire when after again some great defending the Aghada player was adjudged to have blocked down the ball with his leg in the square Goal for Glanmire to add to an early point to level the match. With our lads in disarray Glanmire added four more points while Aghada could not raise a flag. Then with time running out the tension rose Josh burst the net. A point behind could we do it. Then the second Penalty this time Andrew came out of goals to take this on but to no avail
Now Aghada applied the pressure and a point from Healy looked like drawing the game but Glanmire had other ideas back down the field again a block down . but the Aghada player was again adjudged to have picked the ball off the ground Point for Glanmire. Aghada threw everything to attack and when Josh looked like he was fouled, the game went on. Seconds later the ref blew the whistle

Our team that beat the Barrs on Saturday was well depleted but nonetheless recorded a 2 point victory by winning 7 pts to 1-2, mainly due to the inspiration of Michael Russell in the second half who got 6 points (5 from play). were 0-2 to 0-0 at half time with the aid of a strong wind and after we went a point up in the second half, they got a goal but we never panicked but just worked away at taking our points to come from behind to win by 2 points. team

subs Laura Burchill and Cian Roe who came on at half time. Others to play well were Andrew in goals, Paul Flynn and Padraig Mulry in defence, Kenneth and Christopher in midfield while Brian Condon and Michael Desmond worked hard up front.

the match was played on a very difficult surface. . There was nothing in it at half time, largely due to great play from Padraig Mulry at full back and Patrick Crowley at half back while Eoin Healy was getting a lot of scores up front. Christopher Cashman and Brian McCarthy were very strong at midfield while the forwards worked hard together. When the four lads came on half time this strengthened the team considerably but we were unable to pull away from Nemo who also upped there game . Patrick Crowley continued in the second half where he left off from the first and was aided by Chritopher Cashman when he moved back to half back. Michael Desmond had a big number of scoring opportunities in the second half when he came on but unfortunately was wide all but once.

Patrick Crowley along with Eoin Savage were in top form they were well supported by the others. Both midfielders worked very
hard while in attack Eoin Healy caused Na Piarsaigh all sorts of problems. He
was aided when Ronan Kennedy came on at half time who was a pure
torment to the Na Piarsaigh side . Josh O'Shea and Michael Russell both benefitted when swapped with one and other. Michael picking off some excellent scores when moved out and Josh helping
himself to a couple of goals when moved inside. It was pleasing to see so
many players get on the score sheet.
