AGHADA HURLING AND FOOTBALL CLUB

On Saturday morning last we played Erin’s Own in Caherlag in the East Cork under 11-football championship where we lost on a scoreline of 3-6 to 2-4. We were short Seamus O' Gorman and Michael Daly whose absence was unavoidable. They proved to be a big loss. We were totally outplayed in the first half
where only Tommy Dobbyn and Ronan Kennedy played well. Our only scores came from Ronan Kennedy (1) and Michael Desmond with a well-taken point in the first half. Towards the end of the first half Tim Hartnett came into full backline and Giorgio was pushed up into the full forward line. Both players
benefited from the move as Tim was excellent in defence and Giorgio caused all sorts of problems up front. In the second half we got two goals scored by Ronan Kennedy and Brian O' Byrne after much pressure on the Erin’s Own defence. Ronan Kennedy was to get three more points. A lot more of our players came into the game in the second half where David Rice and Gerard O' Brien were to play very well. We were unlucky towards the end as Erin’s Own fought back after we took the lead in the second half where they got a late goal and 2 points. Team; Geoffrey Creedan, Tommy Dobbyn, Giorgio Corigliano, Raymond Savage, Gerard O' Brien, David Rice, Brian Condon, Michael Desmond, Ronan Kennedy, Brian O' Byrne, Richard Dowling, and Rory Hurley. All subs got a run and did very well when they came on; William Leahy, Jack Hayes, Tim Hartnett. We play Youghal in our final game on Saturday next at 11.30 in Youghal. Players will be asked to leave Rostellan at 10.30 sharp.

On Wednesday night last Aghada lost by 2 points to Glanmire (2) in their
second game of the under 11 East Cork football championship on a scoreline of 3-3 to 2-4. The game, which was played under lights and was, played at a very fast pace with lots of open space in this 12 a side competition. Aghada had more of the chances to win this game easy but their shooting let them down badly.The team from last Wednesday night against Glanmire was;

All subs got a run and did very well when they cameon; Michael Desmond, Cian Roe, Cormac Sheehan, William Leahy, Rory Hurley.
Captain Ronan Kennedy was not able to play as he was injured and was a bigloss but he should be back for the next day. Geoffrey Creedan was very safe in goal and could not be faulted for the goals conceded. Outside him Tommy Dobbyn was very much on top in defence while Raymond Savage had an excellent game throughout at midfield. He was ably helped by Seamus O' Gorman and David Rice who did a lot of good work around the middle also. Michael Desmond proved to be our main scorer when he came on and got 2 good goals towards the end of the match where we nearly stole victory. Cian Roe got a good point also when he was introduced.

We play Erins Own in the next game on Saturday next at 12.15 in Caherlag.
Players will be asked to leave Rostellan at 11.15 sharp.

this was a great game of football with Rohan Kennedy scoring the all important goal at the death to draw the game . Goals from Richard Dowling in the first half kept Aghada in front at the short whistle . Points from Michael Desmond and Rohan kept us in the game until the afore mentioned goal got us out of jail . This was a high standard of football by two good sides , who could meet again at a higher place in the championship team
