entertaining game played in Cloyne While the final score line was
big this did not reflect the tone of the game as the Saints got
two goals at the death. Aghada lead at halftime on the scoreline
of 1-4 to 1-3. Fr. Denis, Finbarr, and Michael will be happy enough
with this outing, as there is more in this team

Aghada 0-12 Naomh Pádraig 0-6
No fog tonight but match still unfinished
After been 13 points down on the night the fog came down, Aghada
knew they had a mountain to climb. O’ but how they climbed.
Aghada had three more players available Peter Murphy, Dominick Cashman,
and Kenneth O’Brien on the down side we lost one Paudie Wall.
Fielding a much changed side from the abandoned game the Aghada
sideline made better use of their time. The master move of placing
Liam Day on Paudie Sullivan paid off big time. The Cloyne/Castlemartyr
combination opened the scoring and were ahead by three points after
12minutes before the mighty Tony Wall opened Aghada’s account
with a placed ball. Now Aghada fought like tigers and were to score
five more points before Naomh Pádraig scored again. Wall
added another placed ball just as the short whistle blew. To leave
Aghada ahead 0-7 to 0-4.
Aghada scenting blood tacked on three more points after the brake
again from Wall. Now Naomh Pádraig started to trouble Aghada
but our backline outstanding all night long held out ,around this
time the Ref Killian Looney must have booked half the Cloyne/Castlemartyr
sideline. When the game resumed the Cloyne/Castlemartyr combination
reduced the lead to four points before yes that man Wall again steadied
the ship. Naomh Pádraig came again trying for that goal to
change the match but to no avail. A free out for Aghada at the edge
of the square .The Ref moves the Ball for dissent. Moves the ball
again for more dissent suddenly Tony had a chance for a point, and
take it he did. Then Just as the battle was at its height the Cloyne/Castlemartyr
combination left the fray with according to the ref 11 minutes left
on the clock (two on ours) Aghada looked on with disbelief .
Make no mistake this was Aghada’s night we were the most focused
side, they never gave up, hooked, blocked and never gave their man
an inch. All fifteen players were stars on the night but Wall must
stand out 10 points on the night 7 from free’s . Team management
must also take a bow when they used their chance wisely. As said
before moving Day was a great move but so also was bring Declan
Kearney back half back and moving Tony Wall and Shane Morrissey
to the forty .

Sat 15th Nov Minor hurling Championship semi final
Aghada 2-7 Killeagh/Ita's 2-11
Losing three players from that epic match against Naomh Pádraig
way back in August. Aghada just ran out of numbers in this teak
tough match in Lisgoold. Damien Wall, Dominic Cashman, and Timmy
Crowley were sorely missed by Aghada due to injury,
Yet Aghada could have caused an upset leading by 5 points as the
first half closed, Killeagh got a soft goal followed by a point
to leave the half time score Aghada 1-6 Killeagh/Ita’s 1-5.
Tony Wall was again our main threat up front. He opened the scoring
with two points to answer Killeagh/Ita’s three then Shane
Morrissey scored a mighty point to level the match, a minute later
Wall added another. Now Aghada were on top but Killeagh/Ita’s
were always a danger up front. Some great saves by Martin Day and
good work by the backline (especially Liam Day and Peter Murphy)
kept the Killeagh/Ita’s lads at bay. Declan Morrissey and
Stephen Gilroy was on top in the middle of the park. A long ball
in Paudie Wall grabs it, Penalty up steps Tony but he never hit
the ball right. Aghada come again and Mark Galvin taps over a great
point from out near the sideline. Then within a minute Wall makes
up for the penalty when raised the green followed by the white flag
to give Aghada the afore mentioned five point lead.
Scores were hard to come by on the resumption but slowly Killeagh/Ita’s
stole away. By the 51st minute they had scored three points to none
from our lads. Then came the turning point a miss clearance from
the full backline found Killeagh/Ita’s best man Brendan Barry,
for once on his own and he made no mistake. Aghada’s 1st score
of the half came from Wall on the 56th minute two minutes later
he again found the net to make it a three point game. As the sands
of time ran out try as we might we could not get the goal we wanted
and we had the chances. Killeagh/Ita’s were able to add two
more points to give a false gloss to the scoreline. Aghada can feel
proud as most players played above themselves and as previously
said we paid a big price for the loss of our players ,the three
Walls Tony, Paudie and Brian had big games, as did the two Liam’s,
Day and Morrissey.
