Aghada 1-0 Cloyne 1-0

Aghada 1-0 Cloyne 1-0
What a match this turned out to be. They call Diarmuid O' Sullivan the rock of Cloyne; well Kevin O' Sullivan has to the rock of Aghada. He gave an inspirational performance as captain. Jack Hayes was outstanding in goals. The backs played great stuff with Ryan Clearing great ball and driving them on. Midfield was brilliant where Kevin and Jake never put a foot wrong .The forwards made the Cloyne backs work hard and with a bit of luck could have got more goals. We had a great turn out with no less than fourteen subs and everyone played their hearts out. The girls Roisin, Maria and Emer Were Brilliant. Special mention must go to Joseph Hennigan and mark Healy who made their debut with the u8 hurlers and played great. Cloyne took the lead with a goal, Aghada had a few chances but Cloyne held out till half time to leave the score 1-0 to 0-0
The second half was a different story, Aghada were on top from the word go and were unlucky no to win. For the record I don't know who scored the goal, as there was a lot of body's around the goal area. But this was a great team effort

Sat 28th Sept Parish Leagues

REPORT
OF U8 HURLING PARISH LEAGUES 28/9/02

The under eight parish leagues took place on Saturday last the 30th September. All had a great day and some great matches took place. The first pairing was Limerick & Waterford. What a match end to end stuff and at the end a one all draw was a fair result. The next pairing was Waterford & Tipperary. Again another great match there was nothing between both teams and again a one all draw was a fair result.
The final group match was Tipperary & Limerick. This was a tough match for Limerick, as they needed the win to go through to the final. Tipperary proved to strong and ran out winners on a score line of Tipperary 5 goals to Limerick's 2 goals.
So to the final Tipperary against Waterford. This was a cracker a joy to watch for all to see. The match was level at one goal each entering the last few minutes and cometh the hour cometh the man Kevin O' Sullivan playing the captain's roll gave his team one last push. How they responded with notching up a lovely goal to clench the win. Thanks to the many parents who helped out during the day. The manager's Mr Denis Healy, Mr Martin Hennigan & the winning manager the mighty Mr Kieran O' Hanlon. Coach Richie Kelly was very impressed by his current crop of players and as for the new players they were very good and I hope to see them down the field Wednesday night's for training at 6.30pm.

Wed 11th Sept u8 hurling Aghada 0-0 Killeagh 2-3

Aghada's u8 team gave a great expedition of hurling while going down to a strong Killeagh team. Aghada were slow to start and Killeagh got some scores on the board before we started to play . We made a few switches after the 1st quarter and things started to come together, Jack Hayes was playing great stuff in goals. Ryan was commanding at centre back Kevin and Robbie were proving just how they really are at midfield, the forwards were putting the Killeagh backs under pressure and were unlucky not to score. Brian Rice made a great bebut and is a star of the future, Roisin showed the lads how to play she was brilliant. If only more girls started to play.Over all this was a great team display and this team is getting better with every match, Training every Wed night at 6-30pm

Dungourney went on to win it out. Aghada then went into the Mighty Mac's plate competition were we met Lisgoold. The lads had a good win here with William Leahy, Jeffery Creeden and Brian Condon to the fore in the backline, and Séamus Ó Gormain getting some great scores.
