| 7th April u21 football championship Aghada 0-11 Glanmire 2-1
Aghada made hard work of defeating Glanmire in sunny Carrigtwohill
last Sat.
Aghada built up an early lead only for Glanmire to get two goals
in as many minutes to add to their point earlier in the half, the
first goal came from a mix up between Shane O Connell and Michael
Morressy with the Glanmire forward finding the net. . this was Glanmire's
best spell they put Aghada under fierce pressure yet Glanmire went
in at the brake only 2 points in the clear 2-1 to 0-5 .Things looked
good for Glanmire as they had the wind to their backs in the second
half. Some shroud moves by the Aghada selectors made a big improvement
with Ger Hurley along with J P O'Connor busting into the game Thomas
O'Neill doing fine work at centre field Aghada kept plugging away.
Sub Dave O'Keeffe made inroads into the Glanmire defence. Hurley
tapped over the points and the Wall brothers sewed up the back line.
A high lobbing ball into the square caused Shane a bit of trouble
when he had to make a double save. Amazingly Glanmire never scored
in the second half to leave Aghada winners by 0-11 to 2-1. But this
win was not without cost Shane O'Connell going with a leg injury
to cause the senior selectors some worry before the Clon match.
Nigel Condon also had a bad knee injury after he scored a mighty
point to give Aghada the lead. Team
