| A great football game under lights in Rostellan
. the way of the future .
Aghada 5-7 Youghal 3-2 The first half was an u11 match in which Aghada were well on top leading by 4-6 to 1-0 at half time In the second half both teams induced 5 under 12 players and this was when Youghal pulled back. | Patience has its own reward. Our second string won their first match in a welter of excitement in Rostellan, when they defeated Carrigtwohill's second string. This team have been unlucky all year but they turned on the style and played some great football with Michael Daly, Giorgio Corigliano, Séamus Ó Gormain, Michael Desmond and David Rice cutting through the Carrig defence. Cian Roe played well at centre forward while Laura Burchill and Richie Dowling was a thorn in the side of Carrig up front. Tommy Dobbin was at his best in Goal and could not be faulted for any of the goals that Carrig got from as their free taker got three goals into the top of the net . Aghada held out with Goals coming from Michael Desmond , David Rice and Rohan Kennedy Dessie also got 2 points while Rohan added a point . Brian O' Bryne , Kyle Kennedy added a point each to leave Aghada winners on the scoreline of 3-5 to 4-1 Tommy Dobbin Tim Hartnett , Giorgio Corigliano(Capt) , Michael Burchill Michael Daly , Brian Condon, Séamus Ó Gormain Michael Desmond , David Rice Kyle Kennedy , Cian Roe , Brian O'Bryne Rory Hurley , Laura Burchill, Richard Dowling Subs used Raymond Savage, Séamus McCarthy, ,William Leahy ,Niamh Kavanagh, Keelan Kennedy, Rohan Kennedy |

| a game of two half's with St. Catherines putting
it up to our lads only for Josh O'Shea's goal just on the half time
whistle the cats would have lead at the short whistle , Michael
Russell opened the scoring with a fine point then the Saints rocked
Aghada with a goal and a point . Josh hit back with a point, but
the Saints replied with two. Russell added two more. Then up stepped
Rohan Kennedy with a great goal to give Aghada the lead for the
1st time but it was short lived as the Saints got another goal and
then we had the aforementioned goal from Josh to leave the half
time score 2-4 to 2-3. The Second Half was a different story when
Russell got the goal in the 1st minute we never looked back. With
Pa Crowley now on the forty and John O'Brien (capt) in goals we
were more solid. Chris Cashman, Giorgio Corigliano and Eoin Savage
held the Catherines forwards in a vice like grip While Kenneth Higgins
and Paul Flynn began to control midfield. Meanwhile Michael Desmond
got into the scoring with a fine long range point . Russell. Kennedy,
O'Shea showed their vast array of skills and seemed to score at
will the Saints came back and put away two more goals to leave the
final score 8-10 to 4-4 . this was a great win as we were missing
five players team Pa. Crowley (1-0) John O'Brien (capt) , Giorgio Corigliano Chris Cashman , Eoin Savage Kenneth Higgins (0-1), Paul Flynn , Josh O'Shea (1-1) Brian O'Bryne , Michael Russell (3-5) Michael Desmond (0-1) , Rohan Kennedy (2-2) Subs used Laura Burchill, Michael Daly and Niamh Kavanagh |
On the following day half this team traveled to Dublin to take on St. Vincents and to visit Croke Park both jobs worked out well . While we lost the match we made new friends. thats not the full story our lads played out of their skin and with a bit of luck we could have won this match again with the night before injures played a big part we lost Key players Eoin Healy and John O'Brien after ten and twenty minutes , while Chris Cashman came on he could only play ten minutes and like his brother Dave Rice could take no part due to a broken hand. still we had a great day out .team |
