3-7
Aghada lost this game in the first half when they conceded 3-4 to
a fast moving O’Neill’s forward line when we could only
manage two points for our troubles yet the second half made a big
deference when O'Neills could only score three points to our 1-5
but this was not enough to tilt the balance. Evergreen Joe Hartnett
made the goal for Adian Cotter and also scored two points. In fact
the three subs scored 1-4 between them that left four points for
the starting 15

Sat 21st Sept Junior A Football championship Aghada 0-10 Erin's
Own 1-9
After losing to Erin's Own last year we were hoping to break their
spell but alas it was not to be. Erin's Own side started at whirlwind
pace shooting three points in as many minutes before Davie Creedon
who ploughed a lone furrow up front got Aghada's 1st score. The
Island men added two more points before Aghada started to rally
Again Creedon kicked a fine point followed by points from Adian
Cotter and Richie Lewis to leave only a point between the sides.
We now entered the crucial period with five minutes of the 1st half
left Erin's Own Pulled clear again only for Mickey Lewis to point
a free. Erin's own added another point and then from a fifty the
ball went all the way to the Aghada net and suddenly it was double
scores 1-7 to 0-5
Aghada made changes at half time with Colin Scannell going to full
back and Paul Kilbane (back from his travels) to centre back . Chris
O'Shea replaced Conor Counihan and Kenneth O'Keeffe replaced Paul
O’Donoghue. With his 1st touch O'Shea pointed, Adian Berry
added one and Kenneth O'Keeffe added two more. Scannell was now
on top at full back and Kilbane lead the charge from the half back
line playing out of his skin yet we could not close the gap . We
missed some scores at this stage but to be truthful so did Erin's
Own. The game finished with Erin's Own Scoring twice and Berry adding
a point to leave Erin's Own facing Cloyne in the next round on the
score of 1-9 to 0-10

Sat 12 Oct Junior B football championship Aghada 0-11 Ballinacurra
0-9
Young Bowler shows his class.
When he scored six of Aghada's 11 point to 9 win over Ballinacurra
despite missing a penalty. Ballinacurra started in whirlwind fashion
going five points to one up, indeed they had Aghada in all sorts
of trouble. Slowly we came into the game points from Brian Morrissey,
Denis Motherway and Stephan O'Keeffe pulled it back to a single
point as the half came to a close. Again the Ballinacurra lads got
on top and landed three more points to lead at the short whistle
by 0-8 to 0-4.
On the resumption Aghada started to dominate With Thomas O'Neill
and sub Jason Ryan now getting a grip at centre field. Our centre
back line now with Conor Hickey operating at left halfback steadied
down. Stephen O'Keeffe and Brian Morrissey ran a drag with the Village
backs but still scores were hard to come by. Up stepped Bowler with
the opening point of the half closely followed by one from O'Keeffe.
Billy Hennessy was by now playing an attacking halfback role and
his runs caused Ballinacurra all sorts of bother. Yet we still could
not score. Again Bowler pointed to leave the minimum between the
sides then came the Penalty when Brian Morrissey was pulled down
with the goal at his mercy. A missed penalty is a boast for the
other team and so was this, Ballinacurra went down the field point,
time running out could Aghada come back. O'Keeffe hits another point
then to his credit Bowler hits a long range free all the way. Level
for the first time Ballinacurra attack Jim Motherway was there to
brake up the attack. Bowler wins the ball the lead. From the kick
out the Village have an overlap in came Michael Morrissey ball cleared
up the field O'Keeffe fouled on the forty. Derek points. Two points
up as many minutes to go Ballinacurra launch an attack foiled by
Pa. Sisk ball cleared Aghada attack again a bust up in the square
the umpire Brian Murphy hits the deck, yellow card for the goalkeeper.
